Cranberry sauce is so simple and cheap to make, I can't believe I ever bought it!
The homemade version is much nicer than any jar and you can add more sugar if you wish to suit your own taste. This is a lovely gift idea to bring to someone’s home over the holidays! I picked up these lovely Killner jars for about €3 but you can easily use old clean jars and decorate with a bow.
Ingredients
340g Fresh Cranberries
100g Soft Brown Sugar
70g Granulated Sugar
100ml Port
100ml Water
Method
1. Add all ingredients to a pot.
2. Simmer on a high heat for about 10 minutes to burn off the alcohol.
3. Lower the heat and gently simmer for a further 20 minutes or until all cranberries have popped.
4. Once cooled, add to jars and refrigerate.
