Juicing has been a bit if a craze for the last year or so, and it wasn’t until I tasted a Sprout juice that I realised what all of the hype was about. When talking to people about juicing, there seems to be some confusion- it is NOT the same as a blended juice or smoothie. Juicing has a very liquid consistency like water and no pulp at all, making it a great thirst quencher but not as filling as a smoothie would be.
I now have my own juicer which I bought on sale (I highly recommend it- click here to view) and make enough to last me for 2 days, so I don’t need to use it every single day. When buying a juicer it is important that it is dishwasher safe so that you don’t spend more time cleaning it than you do juicing! Check out some of the many benefits of juicing below.
Juicing Removes Insoluble Fibre
Because juicing removes the pulp, you are left with liquid nutrients and only the soluble fibre. This gives your digestive system a break from working on all that insoluble fibre and allows the nutrients to be absorbed quicker. That means the juice is reaching your digestive system in a more easily digestible form.
A Quick Way to Get Daily Nutrients
Sometimes, life gets in the way and we are too busy to make sure we get our five a day. Juicing is an excellent and fast way to make sure you get what you need. Fruit and Vegetables have endless benefits, one being that they are full of phytoprotectants, which help fight illness and premature ageing. Not only this, but they are low in fat, but high in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
A Good Way to Use Up Extra Fruit and Veg
You would be surprised at what great results you can get from a random selection of leftover fruit and vegetables! I often find I have carrots left over and these can be thrown in along with some beetroot, oranges, apples, ginger and even sweet potato to give a great tasting juice! If you are making a green juice with things like Kale, Parsley or Spinach, use the leftover pulp to make a soup or stew so nothing goes to waste!
Juicing Improves Energy
Absorbing all of these vitamins and nutrients will give you a real source of energy. Much better than energy drinks, juices will release energy for a longer period meaning you won’t get that dreaded energy crash. Now is the time to ditch the morning coffee for a healthier alternative!
You Will Look Great
The high water content and levels of nutrients and antioxidants in fruit and vegetables help to detoxify the body and will result in a clearer, glowing complexion. Incorporating ingredients like ginger and lemon will also help to retain the elasticity of the skin by promoting collagen growth so it will help keep those wrinkles at bay too.
