In December 2013, Dax restaurant owner, Olivier Meisonnave, committed himself and his restaurant to raise funds for the Dublin Simon Community. In March 2014 Dax, located on Dublin’s Pembroke Street, launched an initiative to donate €2 per table over the following twelve months to Dublin Simon Community. On Thursday 2nd April 2015 Olivier presented a cheque for €11,000 to the Simon Community.
As well as this, Olivier and his staff from Dax visited some of the high-support housing in Dublin where they hosted barbecues for residents. In October a gala dinner hosted at Dax launched the “Dining for Simon” initiative which included the participation of other Dublin restaurants to fund-raising and offer other assistance to Dublin Simon.
Olivier will continue to work with and fund-raise for Dublin Simon and Dax will be hosting a barbecue at the Run for Simon fun run in Phoenix Park in October. Olivier hopes his efforts will inspire others to join in to alleviate this national crisis.
What a great initiative led by Dax restaurant, well done to all involved!
