Right around the corner from the hustle and bustle of Rathmines, Ernesto’s is perched on Rathgar Road. When I wake up before the city my favorite thing to do is to take a stroll down to get a matcha soy latte and a scone – if the weather suits of course. On this particular day, we did just that. In an attempt to savor the last of the summer warmth we pulled out our shorts and headed for brunch. Not only was it warm… it was humid. I had the usual, and Taig ordered a latte and pulled pork sandwich. It was the perfect combination of a lazy wake up and much needed comfort food before we have to take our puffy coats out of storage.

Ernesto’s is that place you go to in the spring, summer, autumn, and winter. On the weekend it’s swarming with locals; mums and little ones, elderly couples, young people, you name it. On top of selling the usual, they have a little section where they sell goodies you can’t find in the bigger shops including matcha, coffee, Italian pastas, etc. The noise level is loud enough to chat and quiet enough to concentrate. And when the weather is a bit gloomy there’s always a blanket if you’re willing to sit outside and brace the cold! Ernesto’s is the neighborhood coffee shop where you have your usual and the owner knows your name.
