Wines from Spain have organised the inaugural Spanish Wine Week festival, which will take place in many locations around the country from April 11th– 17th. The festival will give foodies and wine lovers a chance to learn more about Spanish wines through special events, tastings, talks & restaurants offers.

What’s on?

April 11th: The Cliff Townhouse are offering guests a glass of chilled Albariño with a seafood tapa for just €3 per person from 5-7pm.

April 12th:  The Port House on South William Street will hold a Flavours of Spain tasting for €30 per person from 7pm.

April 13th: In Dublin, a Spanish wine and tapas evening in The Gables in Foxrock costs €20 per person while in Cork, wine maestro Leslie Williams will talk guests through a taste of the Mediterranean with wine and paella from 7pm at L’Atitude 51, Cork’s beloved wine café (€15 per person). Also taking place on the night in Dublin’s  Instituto Cervantes is an evening of Flamenco, Fino & Iberico, starting at 6.30pm (tickets should be booked in advance).

April 14th: wine writer Tomas Clancy introduces Hidden Treasures from Spain, a focus on curiosities and the new wine regions accompanied by a tasting of the best tapas in 64 Wine in Glasthule, running from 7.30 to 9pm and costing €30 per person. In Sheridan’s winebar in Galway Leslie Williams will introduce New and Classic Spanish wines from Bierzo and Rioja accompanied by a tasting of the finest Spanish cheeses & meats, for €15 per person, and Ian Brosnan of Dublin’s Ely Bar & Brasserie, IFSC in Dublin hosts a tasting of Perfect Spanish Whites for the Summer at 7pm for €25 per person.

April 15th: Tomas Clancy is in O’Briens Wine shop in Donnybrook with a Spanish wine tasting & tapas evening for €15 per person (with €10 of this back to spend in the shop).

Other participating restaurants include Stanleys Restaurant & Wine Bar who will host a Sherry Happy Hour from Tuesday to Friday, 5 – 7pm, Fallon & ByrneZaragoza, Viva España Restaurant and Las Tapas de Lola are also taking part in the festival, so keep an eye out for details of the great events and promotions on offer with them.

Wine stores will also have special offers throughout the week including O’Briens Wines offering 20% off all wines from Spain and Spanish wine tastings throughout the week.
