With many of us suffering from inflammatory related diseases such as arthritis and IBD, it is vital to include some of the wonderful foods that contain natural anti-inflammatory properties in our diet. Turmeric is known to contain huge amounts of these properties and has been used in Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years. It contains high levels of curcumin, a powerful antioxidant which lowers the levels of enzymes known to contribute to inflammation in our bodies. I’ve used fresh turmeric here which i picked up in my local Fresh Market (they always seems to have it in stock), but it can be tricky to find so dried turmeric will do.

Both ginger, orange and lemon are great for warding off any colds or flues that are very common at this time of year!
